Spotted: Landing into London Heathrow

Incoming…!!!! My crew and I landed into London Heathrow this afternoon on board Emirates Airbus A380 A6-EDH! Fortunately for us, Nimalan Rudrakumaran captured the moment. If you look hard enough, you just might see me sitting beside door number two!¬†ūüėú

Layover Life: London, England

When the world is your playground, you don’t mind visiting the same destination twice or more! At least, this is how I felt having¬†operated a flight to London, England for a second time last week! I first came to London in May of this year, where I checked out¬†Primrose Park and¬†Regent‚Äôs Park¬†with my friend Claire. This time around, I¬†decided to go to Camden Market¬†with a few of the crew.

Camden Market¬†is a community of creative sellers, street food traders and independent stores. Located in Central London, it’s open seven days a week¬†and has¬†over 1,000 places to shop, eat and drink.

We spent a fair amount of our time there looking around at the various shops and trying out a few food venues. I ended up walking away with a Harry Potter necklace (nerd alert!), a green baggy cotton cropped sleeved shirt and a large woolen scarf.

From there, we ventured to the London Bridge and the Tower Bridge where we snapped a couple photos before I headed back to the hotel. London flights are always really busy, and I needed a rest before the 7 hour trip back to Dubai!

Next Stop: Toronto, Canada (HOME!!!)

If you go: London is starting to get cold, so be prepared for the weather. Every place we visited was busy because we were there on a Friday, but we still managed to get around okay despite the crowds.

Where I’ve Been: My Ex Wardrobe Collaboration

Flying is my passion, but¬†I also have a lot of love for fashion. Ever since I’ve started my blog, I’ve been paying more attention to the different trends around the world while travelling the globe.

The thing is, it’s hard to keep up with what’s in and what’s out. It’s also quite costly to routinely add brand new and trendy items to your wardrobe, not to mention the impact this has on the environment. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, 13.1 million tons of textiles are trashed each year and only 15% or 2¬†million tons are reused!

This is why I was thrilled when My Ex Wardrobe approached me to become a brand collaborator.¬†I couldn’t be more excited¬†to work with a team devoted to giving clothing a second chance at happiness. They provide a socially and environmentally-concious way for fashionistas to stay on trend, whilst encouraging the reduction of individuals carbon footprints. They do this by providing physical and online avenues for people to sell their pre-loved clothes and accessories.

I’m looking forward to sporting some of their fabulous pieces throughout my travels, like the ones in the images below! Stayed tuned. ūüôā

Layover Life: London, England

This week, I had the pleasure of operating a flight to London, England! There is so much to do in this city, but I decided to use my time visiting an old friend from university.

We met for a quick brunch a Early Bird, a cafe located steps away from Chalk Farm Underground station (on the Northern Line Edgware Branch). They serve fresh sandwiches, salads and really nice breakfast foods. I opted for the ham and cheese panini, which was beautifully presented, freshly made and very tasty. The environment was nice too- laid back and comfortable. These are my favourite types of places to eat!

Afterwards, we ventured to both Primrose Park and¬†Regent’s Park. Primrose Park¬†offers¬†a clear view of central London¬†(visible from Primrose Hill located inside of it) and¬†was full of residents out and about enjoying the warm weather.

Regent’s Park is significantly larger. It is 166 hectares in size, with a¬†wide range of facilities and amenities including gardens, a lake, waterfowl and a boating area, sports pitches, and children’s playgrounds.

We spent the majority of our time in the Avenue Gardens admiring the flowers and  Victorian-style planting.

I didn’t do much more than this, because our layover was only 24 hours and I had to take a nap¬†prior to my flight back to Dubai. I have a feeling that I’ll be back soon though!

If you go: The parks are beautiful but tend to be busy on the weekends. Try to go during the week to avoid the crowds!

Layover Life: Manchester, United Kingdom

Well, I had planned to share with you what I got up to in Frankfurt, Germany BUT I ended up getting some much needed rest in my hotel room instead. SO, I made sure to get out and about on the layover that followed- Manchester, United Kingdom.

To be honest, before visiting I didn’t know much about the city. I try not to do a lot of research on the destinations I fly to just because I enjoy the element of surprise and adventure. My expectation for Manchester? Football fans. Football fans everywhere. Of course, this was NOT¬†the case!

Walking through the downtown core

With two other members of crew, we grabbed a map from our hotel concierge and boarded a complimentary bus to the nearest metro station. After wandering around for 20 minutes, we finally found the train that would take us to the downtown core. Directions aren’t my jam, but we made it to¬†Manchester Arndale¬†eh-okay!

Manchester has tons of amazing bars and restaurants, but we settled on a recommendation given to us by fellow crew- Burger & Lobster. For 20 pounds, we were¬†given the option of either lobster, a burger or a¬†lobster roll. Each came with fries, salad¬†and¬†a drink. Let’s just say it didn’t disappoint!

The burger at Burger & Lobster was SO good!

Following dinner, we took a stroll through the¬†‘Central Retail District’. A few stops here and there, and we headed back to the hotel. Having a 24 hour layover is great, but a lot of that time is spent¬†sleeping. At least it is on my watch!

Next Stop: Colombo, Sri Lanka!
