Welcome to my blog!

My name is Kelsey, and I made my dream of flying a reality when I joined Emirates as Cabin Crew in November 2015. My blog is dedicated to my experience travelling the globe, my love of fashion, beauty and photography, as well as my passion for flying.

I’ve always been fascinated by aviation, having grown up listening to my grandfather’s war stories. He was in the Air Force during World War II, and would often take my sister and I to the air shows in and around London, Ont., Canada where we grew up. He was the President of the Canadian Prisoners of War Association (now the Prisoners of War Relatives Association) and inspired me to become a Cadet. Although in the end I decided it wasn’t for me, I still took great interest in everything that he did.

Since his passing, I found myself more and more interested in the concept of flight. Having completed a B.A. (Hons) in political science and health studies, I was struggling to put my education and this passion for aviation together when I graduated.

I decided to complete a postgraduate certificate in public relations, which helped me to combine these interests. I began working for a boutique PR agency out of Toronto, Ont., Canada and was exposed to clients Lufthansa and Lockheed Martin. Both really fascinated me, but after completing my allotted time at the agency, I accepted an opportunity with Emirates that took me to the skies.

My grandfather wasn’t the only influence that I had growing up. I was also intrigued by the fashion industry. Having been modelling since the age of sixteen, I have walked in Toronto fashion week and shot for various publications, designers and international brands.

Originally, I created LipstickandLuggage.ca as a platform to document my journey living abroad and travelling the world for my family and friends. As my following began to increase, I decided to take this project more seriously and to combine all of my interests together in an attempt to attract a larger audience.

I’m not sure where this journey will take me, but I do know that for now I’m enjoying living out of a suitcase and working above the clouds. I hope that you will follow me on this adventure!

Hi! Is there a particular reason why you won’t be working at Emirates anymore? My apologies if this is too invasive – I’m thinking about applying next year and just want to read up on it as much as I can – good and bad!
