The latest trend on social media has now taken the aviation world by storm. The so-called “#dontrushchallenge”, inspired by the social media app TikTok, is an online virtual challenge that encourages friends and family to show off their skills by transforming themselves from “sitting at home in self quarantine”, to another look of their choice.
The song “Don’t Rush” by Young T & Bugsey featuring Headie One is used in these videos, because once edited, the participants look as though they have changed within seconds.
The creative venture originally began using a makeup brush as a tool or “magic wand” to transform between looks (usually from no makeup to full glam). Now, participants are switching it up. Aircrew have began accepting the challenge, using passports and other parts of their uniforms to transform themselves from being “off duty” (out of uniform) to “on duty” (in uniform). Getting their colleagues involved has been a way to lift spirits during these difficult times.
In an attempt to boost spirits among the Cabin Crew community at Emirates, some of my colleagues and I decided to get involved with the challenge ourselves. Spoiler alert: we did things a bit differently. You can check it out below:
